Serving up ice cream and emotional trauma
Attention parents: beware of the Emack & Bolio's ice cream shop on Centre St. in Jamaica Plain. One of the owners, Adam Goldberg, has been known to stand outside the bathroom door threatening to break it down if the child in the bathroom "takes too long", and demanding to know the child's age. Which I guess begs the question of why you'd bring a kid there in the first place, when the kid-friendly JP Licks (complete with a chalk corner, and, um, railings to swing from) is right up the street.
In fairness, though, the Roslindale Emack & Bolio's has always seemed very kid friendly - which is good, since our kid loves their couches (and I've never seen anybody pull that bathroom shtik there).

You make this sound like it's a regular hobby of his. My kid works there and saw this "incident." The child in question was in the bathroom for maybe 10 minutes, there were others who wanted to use the facilities...the mom said sorry...Adam (who has a goofy sense of humor) said he could break the door down if need be...etc., etc., etc. Hardly merits a warning on emotional trauma.

Dear Anonymous: your sense of empathy is underwhelming. My kid, who is not easily intimidated by bullies, was very shaken up by this instance of Adam's "goofy sense of humor".
