War Resisters League calls for Mass Nonviolent Civil Disobedience at the Republican National Convention:
"We call for people to gather at 3 pm on Aug. 31, near the site of the World Trade Center (exact location to be announced later) for a vigil before beginning to march at 4 PM in a solemn procession north toward the Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden. By 7 PM we will get as close as we can and, when stopped, we will 'die-in' as a way to graphically represent all those who have been killed by the government's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq."

There is increasing evidence that U.S. doctors, nurses, and medics have been complicit in torture and other illegal procedures in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay. Such medical complicity suggests still another disturbing dimension of this broadening scandal.

Other reports, though sketchier, suggest that the death certificates of prisoners who might have been killed by various forms of mistreatment have not only been delayed but may have camouflaged the fatal abuse by attributing deaths to conditions such as cardiovascular disease.
